“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Many things in life can feel uncertain.
Plans change can chance and friendships shift. Seasons end and things we once counted on may not become unsteady.
When so much can change, it is natural to wonder whether God’s love could change too.
Paul answers that question with confidence in these verses.
Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
He names the present and the future. He names things above us and below us. Then he includes everything else in creation, leaving no space for an exception.
Nothing means nothing.
Not a difficult season. Not a mistake you regret. Not a prayer that seems unanswered. Not a day when your faith feels weak.
God’s love is not held together by your feelings. You may feel close to Him one day and distant the next, but His love has not moved.
It is also not held together by your perfect behaviour. God’s grace does not disappear each time you struggle. His love is rooted in Jesus.
That makes it stronger than changing emotions, difficult circumstances, or the fears that fill our minds.
This does not mean every day will feel easy. It means that on every kind of day, you remain loved.
When you feel strong, you are loved.
When you feel unsure, you are loved.
When life makes sense, you are loved.
When it does not, you are still loved.
You are held by a love that does not loosen its grip.
Prayer: God, thank You that nothing can separate me from Your love. Help me rest in what is true, even when my feelings change. Amen.
