“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself. He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19
Life can often feel rushed.
There is pressure to keep moving, make decisions quickly, and figure everything out on our own. Many of us are used to relying on our own understanding, our own timing, and our own plans.
But Jesus shows us a different way.
In this verse, Jesus reminds us that even He did not move independently from the Father. He followed God’s lead.
If Jesus lived with that kind of trust and connection, how much more do we need it in our own lives?
Following God does not always mean rushing ahead. Sometimes it means slowing down enough to notice where He is already working.
It means asking, God, what are You doing here?
Where are You leading?
What would it look like to move with You instead of ahead of You?
This can be challenging in a world that celebrates self reliance. But faith often looks less like striving and more like listening.
You do not have to force every answer. You do not have to carry the pressure of figuring everything out alone.
This week, let this verse be a reminder to pause before you rush, notice before you react and trust that God’s direction is steadier than your own urgency.
There is peace in following His lead.
Prayer: God, help me slow down and follow Your lead this week. Teach me to trust Your timing and pay attention to where You are guiding me. Amen.
