REST WITHOUT GUILT - MATTHEW 11:28

REST WITHOUT GUILT - MATTHEW 11:28

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28

It is the start of a new year, and for many of us, the pace is already building. Work is back. School routines are back. Messages keep coming. The pressure to do more can sneak in fast, even if you promised yourself, you would slow down this year.

Jesus speaks one simple sentence that cuts through all of it. Come to Me. He does not say, come when you have cleaned up your life. He does not say, come when you feel holy. He does not say, come when you have finished the whole list.

He says, come when you are tired. Come when you are carrying too much.

That matters because a lot of us feel guilty for being weary. We think we should be stronger. We think we should be grateful. We think we should be able to handle it. But Jesus does not shame tired people. He invites them close.

Rest is not laziness. Rest is not weakness. Rest is part of trusting God. It is a way of saying; I am not the one holding everything together. God is.

This week, you might feel the rush to prove yourself. You might feel behind already. You might feel like you need to say yes to everything. But Jesus is still saying the same thing. Come to Me.

Rest can look like one quiet minute in the car before you walk inside. It can look like a deep breath before you reply. It can look like putting your phone down and letting your mind slow. It can look like choosing peace instead of pushing harder.

You do not have to earn rest. You receive it.

If you feel tired today, let this verse be your permission. Jesus is not asking for more from you. He is offering Himself to you.

Prayer: Jesus, I come to You today. Help me stop carrying what You never asked me to carry. Teach me how to rest in You. Amen.
